Upgrades for Bonfire involves Capture for JIRA involve two components:

  • Upgrade Upgrading on the JIRA server
  • Upgrading the client browser extension

1. Upgrading

Capture for JIRA on your JIRA server

  1. In JIRA, go to "Administration", then "Plugins" to open the Universal Plugin Manager.
  2. Go to the "Manage Existing" tab in the Universal Plugin Manager (if not already there), and search for the 'BonfireCapture for JIRA' plugin entry.
  3. Click 'Upgrade' button. A confirmation message and the plugin details will display, if it is installed successfully.
  4. Re-indexing JIRA after installing Bonfire is recommended after installing Capture for JIRA is recommended.

Capture for JIRA on client browsers

The browser upgrade process varies depending on whether the upgrade is a major or minor upgrade. Major upgrades occur when a major version of Bonfire is Capture for JIRA is released, and the new version of the Bonfire server Capture for JIRA server plugin is not compatible with prior versions of the Bonfire browser extensions. Major upgrades require a re-installation of Bonfire Capture for JIRA browser extensions. Minor upgrades occur when a minor version of Bonfire is Capture for JIRA is released. Minor upgrades do not require a complete reinstallation.

Firefox

Major Upgrade

  1. Download the new Bonfire Capture for JIRA for Firefox from JIRA. In JIRA, go to the "Get Bonfire JIRA Capture Extension" page in the "Test Sessions" drop down. 
  2. Click "Download Bonfire JIRA Capture for Firefox". 
  3. Click "Allow" then wait for the extension to download.
  4. Click "Install Now" when prompted. 
  5. Click "Restart Now".

Minor Upgrade
Depending on your settings for automatic updates to extensions, Firefox may automatically update BonfireCapture for JIRA's extension to the latest once it is made available. Alternatively, you can force Firefox to check for an update of Bonfire for Firefox. To do this:

  1. Go to Firefox Preferences.
  2. On the general tab, click 'Manage Add-ons'.
  3. At the top right of the Add-ons manager, click on the cog drop down, then 'Check for Updates'.
  4. Available updates to Bonfire Capture for JIRA for Firefox will be downloaded, and follow Firefox prompts to restart Firefox.

Major Upgrade

  1. Download the new Bonfire Capture for JIRA for Chrome from JIRA. In JIRA, go to the "Get Bonfire JIRA Capture Extension" page in "Test Sessions" drop down. 
  2. Click "Download Bonfire JIRA Capture for Chrome".

Minor Upgrade
Chrome will automatically update BonfireCapture for JIRA's extension to the latest once it is made available. Alternatively, you can force Chrome to check for an update of Bonfire Capture for JIRA for FirefoxChrome. To do this:

  1. Click on the spanner in the top right of Chrome.
  2. Go to 'Tools' -> 'Extensions'.
  3. In Chrome's extension manager, click on 'Developer mode' at the top right of the screen.
  4. Click 'Update Extensions now'.

Major Upgrade

  1. Download the new Bonfire Capture for JIRA for Safari from JIRA. In JIRA, go to the "Get Bonfire JIRA Capture Extension" page in the "Test Sessions" drop down. 
  2. Click "Download Bonfire JIRA Capture for Safari".
  3. Double-click "bonfireJIRA Capture-latest.safariextz" in the Downloads dialog. 
  4. When prompted, "Install" Atlassian BonfireCapture for JIRA.

Minor Upgrade
Depending on your settings for automatic updates to extensions, Safari may automatically update BonfireCapture for JIRA's extension to the latest once it is made available. If automatic update is switched off, you can find Bonfire Capture for JIRA updates manually:

  1. Go to Safari Preferences.
  2. Go to the 'Extensions' tab.
  3. Click on 'Updates' at the bottom left hand corner of the dialog.
  4. Click 'Update' for BonfireCapture for JIRA.

Major and Minor Upgrades

  1. If you are installing Bonfire JIRA Capture 1.3.2 (now Capture for JIRA) or earlier, un-install the previous version of Bonfire JIRA Capture by going to the 'Control Panel' -> 'Add/Remove Programs' in Windows. This step is no longer required from Bonfire JIRA Capture 1.4 onwards.
  2. Download the latest Bonfire Capture for JIRA for Internet Explorer by going to your user drop down in JIRA, then 'Get BonfireJIRA Capture'.
  3. Ensure Internet Explorer has been shut down.
  4. Install Bonfire Capture for JIRA by executing the downloaded file.
